Simplex, half-duplex and full-duplex
Simplex means that communication is possible in only one direction.

Half-duplex means that communication is possible in both directions, but they cannot send data simultaneously, and must be one by one. In general, the same radio frequency is used for both transmission and reception.

Full-duplex means that simultaneous communication is possible in both directions. This can be realized in a way of frequency division with one frequency for up link and another frequency for down link, or in a way of time division by assigning one time slot for up link and another time slot for down link.
