Adaptive Antenna System (AAS)
|
|
AAS stands for Adaptive Antenna System, which uses beam forming to enable a base station (BS) to direct signals to specific subscribing stations (SS), even though they may operate on the same subchannel(s). AAS uses an array of antennas at the BS to increase gain to an intended SS while nulling out interferences to and from other SSs and interference sources. AAS can be used for Spatial Division Multiple Access (SDMA), such that multiple SSs that are separate spatially can use the same set of subchannels to transmit data.
