Types of spectrum sharing
There are three types of spectrum sharing, including (1) frequency division, (2) time division, and (3) code division. Frequency division divides a radio spectrum into multiple disjoint sub-spectrums, with each transmitting independent data traffic. Time division refers to dividing the usage of the whole radio spectrum into disjoint time periods call time slots. In each slot, data traffic is transmitted independently. Lastly, code division means that different tributaries of data traffic use different modulation codes. These tributaries are distinguished at receivers based on the modulation codes.
